The Wife and I went to Pensacola this weekend. More about that later.
But, on the way back, we stopped for gas at Greenville, Alabama.
And, at that exit, there’s a Russell Stover outlet.
So, like a couple of kids in a candy store, we walked around, pointing, wanting this, wanting that. And, when it was all done, [...]

Taste

Tastes change.
For example, I used to eat grits with salt (just a touch) and butter. Now, I eat them plain.
Circumstances caused the change in my taste. Plain grits was all I had at one time, and I got used to eating grits that way.
But, other things cause changes, too.
In Korea, they ran out of Coke [...]

Grits

One of the things about changing the way you eat … or drink … is that it can have a long-lasting effect.
For instance, when in the Army, I found a change to the way I ate certain things.
Grits, for instance.
I always ate grits with butter and salt.
Oh, I wouldn’t always add salt to my grits. [...]

A Chicken Bacon Gardenia sandwich

Met the Wife for lunch at Subway today. Still there as I write this, by the way.
She likes the roast beef sandwiches. Orders them most of the time. Me, I prefer the Subway Melt or the Italian BMT.
But, today, I decided to go crazy and and order a chicken bacon ranch sandwich. I’ve had them [...]

WiFi woes

So far, I’m liking my new Macbook.
There are some things that are different. But some things are the same.
My browser, for instance. I quit using Internet Explorer when Firefox came out. And I use Firefox on the Macbook instead of Safari, Apple’s own browser. So the browser’s pretty much the same. Minor differences, sure, but [...]

Location

I was driving near Conyers, GA recently. And ran across something that just caught my eye.

In case you have a hard time seeing it clearly, click here for a larger image.
Yes, right next to the combination Dunkin’ Donuts / Baskin Robbins … is a weight loss institute.
On the one hand, you’d think that it’s the [...]

So, what do Snoop Dog, a motor pool in Korea, cell phones, and the lady that ran a Lafayette Electronics store in my home town all have in common?
That’s a tough one, huh?
Well, here’s the missing piece of the puzzle that puts it all together: nachos.
Make sense now?
No?
Let me explain.
I had a really odd dream [...]

Tea Wars

I’m from the South. I drink sweet tea.
Now, being from the South doesn’t mean you must drink sweet tea. And sweet tea isn’t limited to being only for Southerners.
But I do believe that any restaurant in the South should serve sweet tea. Oh, also serving unsweetened (we call it “unsweet”) tea is fine. Especially if [...]

We went to Tony Roma’s for supper last night.
Yeah, I know. We’re in Panama City Beach, and the only non-chain restaurant we’ve been to has been a local Chinese restaurant. All these local places, featuring food with a local flavor, and we go to Tony Roma’s.
Still, we do like the food there, so we went.
The [...]

Full

I’m full.
It’s early morning … okay, it’s morning … and I’m not hungry.
I ate a large lunch yesterday. And a large supper last night. Oh, and had a big ol’ honkin’ piece of cheesecake for dessert after supper.
I’m thinking I ate too much.
That’s the only reason I’m not hungry, I think.
Seems I’m going to have [...]
