Once again, the south doesn’t get any respect.
The University of Georgia fell in the college football polls again.
And here’s the problem.
First, I’ll admit I’m a Bulldog fan. While I don’t attend their games regularly, I’m a typical UGA fan, I suppose. I’ve been to a handful of UGA games.
Having said that, I ask any serious [...]

The first college football mascot to be invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York was the University of Georgia’s Uga IV.
UGA (The University of Georgia) has had mascots named Uga since 1956.
Uga IV’s visit to the Heisman Trophy ceremony isn’t the first “first” for one of the dogs [...]

Last month, I listed my plan for a college football playoff. After the bowl games so far, it still looks like a good idea to me.
The winners of the 11 major conferences would take the top 11 seeds, just like in the NFL. Then, 5 wild-card teams are added to the mix, making a field [...]

I’ve been promoting the best plan for a college football playoffs.
Simply put, it’s the winners of the 11 major conferences taking the top 11 seeds, then 5 at-large or wild-card teams thrown into the mix, making a field of 16. Their seedings are by BCS standards. Non-BCS rated teams (the non-BCS-locked conference champs, usually) are [...]

For example, Ohio State got into the game because the teams above them lost. Georgia, right behind Ohio State, didn’t.
Georgia [...]

I said so last year. I actually have said so for over 20 years.
Major college football needs a playoff system.
Now, the NCAA, the politically-correct, financially-corrupt organization that oversees college football in the U.S., won’t come up with a playoff system for the “big schools” like Ohio State, LSU, Florida, Texas, and the like.
They have playoffs [...]

USA Today had an article online this morning talking about the Michigan-Notre Dame game.
The headline: “Michigan blanks Notre Dame in battle of winless powers”
Now, think about that for a minute.
“Winless powers?”
Isn’t that a contradiction in terms, an oxymoron? Like “jumbo shrimp.” Or “working vacation.” Or “Microsoft Works.” Or “liberal thinking?”
Two teams that are 0-2 [...]

Betcha didn’t know that the NCAA has a Division 1 football championship playoff tournament, did ya?
During its August 3 meeting, the Division I Board of Directors approved a recommendation to delete the labels Division I-A, I-AA and I-AAA from NCAA use. Additionally, the Board adopted the title “NCAA Division I Football Championship” to replace the [...]
