Grandma turned 95 recently.
And we took her to see the Georgia Aquarium.
She’d been wanting to go to the aquarium. And this weekend, she went.
Actually, plans got jerked around a little bit through an unfortunate set of circumstances.
My uncle died (father’s side of the family; Grandma is mother’s side of the family). That shifted things [...]

Uncle Dave was a quiet man.
But a nice man.
Always with a smile. A quiet smile. A friendly smile. And always a kind word, or a joke.
And never an off-color joke.
He was a good man. A quiet man. A hard-working man. A good Christian man
Uncle Dave became Uncle Dave before any of us … my sisters [...]

The Wife often puts up with stuff from me.
Like going to baseball games.
Oh, she likes baseball okay. Just not as big a fan of the games as am I.
Traveling to the games is fine for her; she likes the travel better than I, while I like the games better than the travel.
But, every now and [...]

Last Saturday night, my niece — the daughter of my middle sister, the Mean One — competed in the Miss Columbus Outstanding Teen pageant.
And she won!
I’m quite proud of my little niece. Only, she’s not so little. Except in my mind.
There were three pageants in one: Miss Columbus, Miss Columbus Outstanding Teen, and Miss Southern [...]

They don’t live around here. They still live in southeast Georgia, and [...]

Heading out of town.
Got tickets to a concert.
In Wisconsin.
Yes, Jimmy Buffett.
No, we couldn’t see Buffett when he’s in Atlanta.
Apparently.
So, we’re going to Wisconsin.
Actually, we’re flying into Chicago. Cheaper than Milwaukee. Which surprised me.
Cubs are out of town, so we’ll catch a White Sox game Sunday. Yeah, The Wife is all excited about that.
Anyway, what better [...]

Everybody’s Mommy.

I have never like those shoes called “Crocs.”
I saw them. And I heard people mention “Crocs.” But it was a while before I put the name with the shoe.
But, one day, it dawned on me: Crocs are those ugly-ass shoes that way too many people wear.
And, I knew you’d never catch me dead in those.
However, [...]

Every now and then, someone will say something that could be taken a couple of different ways. A double entendre, for those what talk all fancy-like.
I’m not about to pass up any such opportunity, often trying to respond in a way that fits both the intended and unintended meanings. The hardest part of that is [...]

Every year, after Christmas, there’s always the issue of dealing with the tree.
You know what I mean. If you have a live tree, you have to dispose of it in some way.
Some places do pickups of trees. Some don’t.
We have to dispose of ours.
Only, this year, we haven’t disposed of it yet.
Oh, we took it [...]
