My niece … and other young ladies from across Georgia … onstage in Columbus, competing in the Miss Columbus, Miss Columbus teen, and Miss Southern Rivers teen pageants. Image: WTVM
This weekend, my niece competed in the Miss Columbus teen pageant. Did well. Very well.
They don’t live around here. They still live in southeast Georgia, and [...]

Saturday night, we went to the Miss Columbus pageant.
Actually, it was three pageants in one: Miss Columbus, Miss Columbus Teen, and Miss Southern Rivers Teen.
I had a family member competing in one of the teen pageants.
And, the first winner of the night was … me!
Yep, I won at the Miss Columbus pageant.
No, not on stage.
I [...]

While in the Chicago area, The Wife was surprised to find a brochure for a Casino. Actually, a couple.
One was for a casino near Milwaukee … about an hour and a half drive from the hotel.
The other was for a Casino in Elgin, the Grand Victoria.
Since it’s closer, that’s where we went.
The Wife likes casinos. [...]

Went to the Jimmy Buffett concert at Alpine Valley, in Wisconsin, last night.
A few years ago, The Wife promised to take me to see Buffett in concert for my 50th birthday.
She meant actually on my birthday.
So, when she found out he was in East Troy, Wisconsin, on the day I turned two quarters of a [...]

Heading out of town.
Got tickets to a concert.
In Wisconsin.
Yes, Jimmy Buffett.
No, we couldn’t see Buffett when he’s in Atlanta.
Apparently.
So, we’re going to Wisconsin.
Actually, we’re flying into Chicago. Cheaper than Milwaukee. Which surprised me.
Cubs are out of town, so we’ll catch a White Sox game Sunday. Yeah, The Wife is all excited about that.
Anyway, what better [...]

I operated on my TiVo recently.
Elective surgery.
My TiVo got a hard drive enhancement.
When we got the TiVo a couple of years ago, it was the smallest, cheapest one they had. In fact, it and a year of TiVo service were the cost of a year of TiVo service. For all practical purposes, it was free.
And [...]

Harvey Korman has died.
He was funny.
Really really funny.
I enjoyed him when I first saw him on the Carol Burnett Show, way back when. Everybody remembers the scenes with him and Tim Conway. And, yes, those were great. But Harvey Korman was funny in whatever he did.
Blazing Saddles. That’s a classic film. And I can’t imagine [...]

Yesterday, The Wife and I went to the movies. And saw the new Indiana Jones movie. Read about it here (warning, spoilers!).
Went to the early show. One of them, anyway. They were showing it every 15 minutes. And we caught the last of the early shows. Paid matinée price.
Which meant we only paid $13.50 for [...]

The Wife and I went to the movies yesterday.
We don’t go a lot. Which is a shame. I really enjoy going to the movies.
The thing is, there isn’t often anything worth paying $9.00 to see. That both The Wife and I want to see, at least.
You see, I like going to the movies better than [...]
